Critical Thinking and Effective Problem Solving
DAY 1
Problem Solving Methodologies
• Apply a structured approach to problems
• Undertaking pre checks before solving a problem to ensure resources are deployed effectively
• Investigate the impact of problem solving from an individual and team perspective
• Identify the root cause of a problem using 5 Why techniques
• Implement a How Why approach to problem solving
DAY 2
Approaching a Problem
• Assess individual approaches to problem solving
• Look at how teams shape problems and their potential impact
• Focus on problem solving from a customer / client perspective
Thinking Approaches to Problem Solving
• Apply various approaches of thinking to problem solving
• Using critical thinking approaches to assess crucial elements of the problem
• Assess creativity: what it means and how we can apply to investigate issues from a different perspective
• Look for marginal gains approaches to identify small incremental gains in problem solving
• Investigate how a lean mindset aids towards continuous improvement
• Study group thinking and how it shapes outcomes
